Domestic and farm workers must benefit from labour programmes─── 18:12 Mon, 30 Mar 2015
Bloemfontein - Parliament’s portfolio Committee on Labour last week reiterated that domestic and farm workers must benefit from labour department programmes such as the Unemployment Insurance Fund.
Following a briefing by the UIF, Committee Chairperson Lumka Yengeni said the Fund needs to tighten controls to ensure employers and the rich are held accountable for exploiting people.
SA News quoted her as saying despite their meager salaries, domestic and farm workers are still denied their rightful benefits.
Yengeni said employers and employees must comply with legislation to ensure poverty alleviation, closing the wealth gap and addressing inequality.
