Horwil to make amends against Cheetahs | News Article

Red and Wallabies lock, James Horwill will be looking to make amends for his red card against the Melbourne Rebels two weeks ago when they tackle the Toyota Cheetahs tomorrow.

The former skipper, who led the lead to the 2011 title, was red carded in the 20th minute of the match against the Melbournians and copped a one match suspension.

Horwill is one of four changes to the starting line-up that lost 43-22 to the Bulls in Pretoria last week.

The other notable change sees James O’Connor return from injury to take him place on the wing.

Horwill said is card and suspension wasn’t his proudest moment in his rugby career.

“It gives me an opportunity to go out there and try and do the best for the team and allow us to get a win.

“Obviously I want to get out there and show the team that I’m sorry for what I did a couple of weeks ago, but the most important thing for me is to do my part for the team and not I guess try too hard and overplay my hand.

“It’s my job in the team is to go out there and make sure I can do that and not worry too much about the other things on of that.

“If I can do that, I do my part for hopefully organising a win, because it is about the team effort, it’s not about the individuals.

Meanwhile, srumhalf Will Genia says it’s good to have Horwill back in the team after the former captain served a one-match suspension for a red card.

“It’s great to have James (Horwill) come back into the fod, obviously he was very disappointed that to stay behind with a red card,” said the Genia.

The player is also of the view that Horwills’ presence in the side is a definite boost for the side.

“His presence, obviously he captained the club, he was there when we won the competition in 2011 as the leader of the side, so just that presence and knowledge and the experience he will bring come game time will definitely benefit the group,” Genia added.

Tomorrow evenings match at the Free State Stadium kicks off at 19:10.
