Land reform working groups to report back in April─── SABRINA DEAN 00:00 Mon, 13 Apr 2015
Bloemfontein - Several working groups established following a land reform indaba held in Johannesburg in March are scheduled to give feedback to the Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform by April 21.
This is according to Agri SA’s Parliamentary representative Annelise Crosby, who confirmed that a meeting of one of the groups took place in the second week of April.
She says discussions around various land reform issues, including the controversial 50/50 and land ceiling proposals, have already been underway for several years since the publication of a green paper on land reform in 2011.
She says, however, the new work groups have been tasked with focusing on five key issues, namely land ceilings, the 50/50 proposal, land ownership by foreigners, district land committees and the introduction of Agri Parks.
Crosby says most of the groups have already held their first meetings and are expected to give feedback to Minister Gugile Nkwinti on April 21.
