FSA Young Farmer to represent province at national competition─── SABRINA DEAN 13:30 Fri, 17 Apr 2015
Bloemfontein - The winner of the Free State Agriculture Young Farmer of the Year competition says it took a lot of persuading to get him to enter the competition in the first place but after having participated, he would recommend it to any young farmer.
Barend Grobler of the farm Uitkyk in Dewetsdorp was announced as the 19th winner of the annual competition during a glamorous event at Emoya Estate in Bloemfontein on April 16.
He and his wife Juanita started farming full-time in 2011 with the main focus on broiler production, in addition to smaller scale rounding of weaner calves and pigs.
Grobler says the reality still hasn’t sunk in and if it wasn’t for the persistence of an old university friend, he would never have entered:

Grobler will represent the province at the national Young Farmer Competition taking place later in the year.
Meanwhile Agri North West will announce its winner on April 24.
