Top animals strut their stuff at Bloem Show─── SABRINA DEAN 14:00 Thu, 30 Apr 2015
Bloemfontein - South Africa’s top Angus bloodlines were in Bloemfontein for the National Angus Championships at Bloem Show on April 29 and 30.
Breed Director John Boulle says the championship is hosted once every two years and competition is very fierce to claim the ultimate accolade by taking home the Breeder of Champions Jacket:

Commenting on the breed, Boulle says the Angus, which originates from Scotland in Europe, is the only breed in the world that has been selected over the last four hundred years for meat quality:

Boulle says it is very heartening to see how well the novice breeders are doing this year. The Angus Champions selected during the two-day event would remain at the show grounds to represent the breed in the Interbreed Championships on May 1.
The Limousin breeders were also busy with a Regional championship and OFM News spoke to Leon du Toit as he was brushing out the tails of the cows in his care before their arena appearance:

There is also a fabulous display of birds and poultry in the Pet Hall. Petra van den Berg, President of the Free State Fancy Pigeon Society says the annual display is a must see, especially for kids:

Other agriculture programme highlights at the weekend include regional, provincial, national and world championships for numerous different animals. These range from Equestrian highlights such as the Friesian nationals, the SA Boerperd Regional Championships and the tentpegging divisional Championships on Friday.
The World Boerbok/Kalahari Red Show continues in the BKB complex with a chance to scoop up some champions during the auction on May 1, while some prime Dexters are set to come under the hammer on May 2.
