Afasa disappointed at Nkwinti's absence─── SABRINA DEAN 16:41 Mon, 18 May 2015
Pretoria - The African Farmers’ Association of SA (Afasa) says it is disappointed that Land Reform Minister Gugile Nkwinti was unable to attend a media breakfast in Pretoria in which it hoped to gain clarity on recent land reform statements.
Afasa Secretary General Aggrey Manhanjana says the range of new land ceiling proposals announced by Nkwinti during his budget speech came as a big surprise. He says Afasa does not agree with plans to expropriate land above the 1000, 2500 and 5000 hectare caps for small, medium and large scale farming respectively as this will make it impossible for smaller scale farmers to grow:
