TAU tour investigates investment opportunities in Georgia | News Article

Bloemfontein - The Transvaal Agriculture Union of SA (TAU SA) will embark on a tour to Georgia this week to introduce a group of local farmers to the various investment opportunities available in the Eastern European country.

TAU SA Managing Director Bennie van Zyl says the twice yearly tour initiative came about after the government of the former soviet country asked TAU for assistance in revamping the commercial agriculture sector:

Van Zyl says TAU SA is not necessarily recommending South African farmers should immigrate to Georgia but is instead highlighting the diverse investment opportunities, ranging from agriculture to tourism to property investment:

He says the primary agricultural activity in Georgia revolves around production of grapes for the wine industry but says there is also a strong focus on production of various grains, nuts, particularly hazelnuts, meat and fruit.
