Burning issues not expected to feature at Communal Land Indaba | News Article

Bloemfontein - Issues such as land ceilings and the 50/50 plan are not expected to feature on the agenda at a communal land reform Indaba being hosted in Johannesburg by Rural Development and Land Reform Minister Gugile Nkwinti.

The department said in a statement the purpose of the indaba, underway at Premier Hotel OR Tambo in Johannesburg from May 29 to 30, is to discuss three thematic areas. These are the Communal Tenure Policy; the Land Tenure Security Policy for Commercial Farming Areas and Strengthening of Relative Rights for Persons Working Commercial Land; and lastly the Land Regulation Policy.
 
In an interview with OFM News earlier this week, Farmers' Weekly News Editor Jaco Visser said he would be surprised if the Minister used the Indaba as a platform to give feedback on some of the more controversial land reform issues:

About 400 stakeholders from various sectors are expected to attend the indaba.
