Hard talk at start of meeting between FSA and provincial government─── SABRINA DEAN 17:01 Fri, 19 Jun 2015
Bloemfontein - Free State Agriculture says government needs to respect the rule of law and the constitution and not only adhere to those court judgments that suit it.
This following a meeting between the agricultural union and a delegation of Free State MECs led by Premier Ace Magashule in Bloemfontein on Thursday.
He says thereafter, the meeting turned to much broader issues, adding that it provided an opportunity for very valuable engagement across numerous sectors:
FSA President Dan Kriek says things like the chaos in parliament, Nkandla and the weekend debacle with Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir are just a few examples of how law and order is being flouted. He says there was some hard talk at the start of the meeting:
'Dan Kriek - hard talk'
'Dan Kriek - engagement'
The meeting also briefly touched on land reform and the 50/50 issue, with FSA extending an invite to provincial government to come and visit some private sector projects around Rosendal that Kriek says are yielding positive results.
