Vryburg - The 73-year-old farmer injured in an attack on his farm Friedslard in Ganyesa near Vryburg at the weekend has been described as a valuable contributor to agriculture in the area.
Johannes Haasbroek, known as Hasie, was stabbed in the eye and back with a pair of sheep shears during an attack by two suspects on Tuesday night. His wife Delmien was uninjured but has been left very traumatised.
Agri North West’s Sarel Pretorius has condemned the attack, saying it shows that even somebody who does a lot for the community is not safe from this type of violence:

Pretorius says Haasbroek was not admitted to hospital. He says this is the first time there has been an attack in the area in many years.
Two suspects aged 27 and 28 were arrested by members of the Ganyesa Dog Unit at Cassel near Kuruman on Saturday and are expected to appear in the Ganyesa Magisrate’s Court on a charge of house robbery. They were found in possession of two cell phones and a pistol.
