Bio-fuel industry needs a balanced approach, says Cele─── SABRINA DEAN 14:00 Fri, 26 Jun 2015
Bloemfontein - The initiation of the bio-fuels industry in South Africa must be approached very carefully to ensure it does not negatively impact food security.
This is according to Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Bheki Cele, during an outreach event at Glen Agricultural College in Bloemfontein. Responding to a question about when the industry is expected to get off the ground, Cele said bio-fuels is one of the hottest debates currently underway in parliament:
'Bheki Cele - biofuels'
He says there are lessons to be learned from other countries:
'Bheki Cele - international comparisons'
Free State Agriculture and Rural Development HOD Peter Thabethe said during his presentation at the event that plans are still in the pipeline for the establishment of the Mabele ethanol plant at Bothaville.
