Agri union accuses Eskom of blackmailing the country | News Article

Bloemfontein - Eskom’s suggestion that it will have to implement more load shedding because it did not receive the requested tariff increase amounts to nothing more than blackmail.

This is according to the president of the Traansvaal Agricultural Union of SA, Louis Meintjies, who says it is unacceptable for Eskom to threaten more load shedding based on the tariff refusal. He says the focus should rather be on improving management and efficiency:

Meintjies says load shedding has far reaching consequneces for the agriculture sector, both directly and along the value chain:

These comments come after the national Energy Regulator of SA yesterday refused Eskom’s request for a 12,61% tariff hike on top of the more than 12% already granted earlier this year.
