Lesotho border case back in court─── SABRINA DEAN 22:53 Tue, 04 Aug 2015
Bloemfontein - The notorious Lesotho border case, which has been on the go for more than eight years, is back in the Bloemfontein High Court this week.
Free State Agriculture (FSA) confirmed to OFM News that the matter is back before the courts but could not provide detailed information as it is still sub judicae.
The case deals with efforts to get government to maintain the patrol road along the border between South Africa and Lesotho, as well as ensuring there are effective patrols by SA National Defence Force personnel.
FSA says it is a very important case that is necessary to protect the Constitutional rights of not only farmers, but all citizens who are affected by cross-border crime, which includes huge amounts of stock theft.
The organisation says problems are not only restricted to the Free State border with Lesotho but are also prevalent along the Eastern Cape and Kwa-Zulu Natal border, where especially emerging farmers are suffering.
