Women winner promotes Free State as wine making mecca | News Article

Bloemfontein - The winner of the top commercial farmer category in the Free State Female Entrepreneur Awards is on a mission to convince wine connoisseurs that the province can produce world class wine.

Tebogo Ditebe of Botebo farming, which literally means depth, has been producing white muscadel and cabernet sauvignon grapes for wine making since purchasing her farm in the Jacobsdal area in 2013.

She is of the opinion that the weather and the terroir of the area is perfect for wine grapes:

Ditebe says she is thrilled at being named the top commercial farmer in the province as this is a testament to her hard work and non-negotiable quality standards. The cherry on the cake, however, is that her white muscadel grapes were used in the making of the award winning GWK Landzicht White Muscadel.

She says she has now bought back her cabernet sauvignon grapes and plans to bottle her first wines in September to be launched under the Botebo label in December this year.

Ditebe and her fellow provincial winners will represent Free State at the national Female Entrepreneur Awards in Durban this week.
