Technology no substitute for good farming─── SABRINA DEAN 14:46 Fri, 04 Sep 2015
Bloemfontein - A respected agricultural economist has reminded farmers the latest technology is no substitute for being a good farmer.
Head of Agri Business at Standard Bank, Nico Groenewald, says it cannot be denied that farmers have to keep up with the latest technological advances if they want to capitalise on the economy of scale concept and stay competitive in the global agriculture sector.
He adds, however, that haphazard application of technology can do more harm than good:

Groenewald says precision farming technology can improve yields but insists that technology must support a farmer’s overall strategy.
