Farmboek web service launched─── SABRINA DEAN 16:07 Thu, 01 Oct 2015
Bloemfontein - Farmers, agri businesses, students and individuals now have access to a one-stop online platform catering for everything from A – Z.
This is according to co-founder of the web service Farmboek, Andre Groenewald, who says the aim is to allow people involved in the agriculture sector to make informed choices:
“Farmboek is basically an integrated information platform where the farmer can identify his problem, whether it be a pest or a disease or whatever it might be, and get access to the registered remedies for that specific problem and then get acccess to the local suppliers in his area.
"That’s the basic model but we apply it to everything in agriculture, from equipment to seed, to fertilizer and everything the farmer might need.”

The service, which was launched during Agri Mega Week last month, also includes and agriculturally customized weather section.
Groenewald says the weather forecasting tool, designed by agri business Syngenta, provides farmers with very specific weather information, such as for example a “spray window” to facilitate data for precision farming.
There is no cost involved with using the service. Registration and further information is available at www.farmboek.co.za.
