Springbok captain, Jean de Villiers has officially called time on his rugby career.

Yesterday OFM was the first to report that De Villiers had been ruled out of the Rugby World Cup being played in England after fracturing his jaw during Saturday’s 46-6 win over Samoa in Birmingham.

We also had confirmation early that De Villiers would retiring from the sport.

During yesterday’s press conference, the 109 test veteran De Villiers said that the last time he got injured against Samoa was during the 2007 World Cup in France, which the Springboks won.

De Villiers added that as a former a Springbok now, he is supporter number one as he wants the team to go about his business.

The Boks have moved up north now to Newcastle when their will tackle Scotland on Saturday in the heart of Magpies football, St James’ Park.

Scotland in their turn when back to the top of Pool B yesterday with a 39-16 win over the USA at Elland Road in Leeds.
