Bloemfontein - The Toyota Free State Cheetahs kick-off their Currie Cup campaign this week when they face the Kings in a warm-up match in Cradock on Friday.

Coach, Rory Duncan last week indicated the match will be used to test combinations with the young and new look squad.

Although it’s a warm-up match the feeling among the players it that it will be tough battle against the Kings.

Former Stormers and Montpellier centre, JP Du Plessis who will bolster the midfield told OFM Sport that they are ready for the clash.

“I think they are a very good team, we are really going to have to give it a 150%", said Du Plessis.

"All the guys are up for it, and we'll take the bus trip to Cradock tomorrow and show what we can do this weekend", the former Paul Roos Gymnasium schoolboy concluded.

Meanwhile, former Tuks Varsity Cup star and Blue Bull, Clayton Blommetjies said he is excited to be at the Cheetahs.
The highly attacking fullback said it was rather easy for him to slot into the team.

“Like I’ve told a few of the guys here, I’m going to enjoy it at the Cheetahs, because the play my kind of rugby.

“I’m originally from the Boland, so I loving a running brand of rugby, and it’s seen me slot in quite easily,” Blommetjies concluded.

The Bloemfontein side face the Pumas away in Nelspruit in their campaign opener, before hosting neighbours, the Griquas a week later at the Free State Stadium.
