Bloemfontein - The Toyota Free State Cheetahs could receive a massive boost ahead of the Currie Cup, with prop Coenie Oosthuizen said to be available for the world toughest domestic competition kicking off this week.
Oosthuizen missed out on Springbok selection for the Rugby Championship later this month and will add great value to the Cheetahs.
Coach Rory Duncan told Ofm Sport that possibly having Oosthuizen available will bring a lot of experience to his squad.
The Cheetahs wrapped up their preparation with a resounding 28-12 win over the EP Kings in a warm-up match in Cradock on Friday, and Duncan said he is happy with his side's overall performance, after crossing the whitewash on four occasions.
The Cheetahs campaign gets underway on Saturday when they face the Pumas in Nelspruit at 19:10.
Saturday at 15:00, the Griquas are at home the Sharks at GWK Park in Kimberley, while the Golden Lions face the Blue Bulls in the Jukskei Derby at Ellis Park with kick-off at 17:05.
The new boys on the block, the Eastern Province Kings and their traditional rivals, Western Province get proceedings underway when the two teams face each other in the opener in Port Elizabeth on Friday evening at 19:10.
