Mohoje set for first Bok start | News Article

Shimlas captain and Toyota Cheetahs utility forward, Teboho “Oupa” Mohoje is set for his first start in the green-and-gold when the Springboks run out against the Wallabies in Cape Town.

Mohoje was yesterday named in the starting XV at flank in the place of the injured Francois Louw.

Coach Heyneke Meyer said he chose the Qwa-Qwa born player who attended HTS Louis Botha over the more experience Schalk Burger due to his lengthy travel from Japan to Cape Town.

In the only other change to the starting line-up, Francois Hougaard replaces the injured Ruan Pienaar and Cobus Reinach slots onto the bench.

Should Reinach make his debut, he and his late father, Jaco Reinach with become just the 10th father-son Springbok combination.

Newlands is the very same field his father made his debut on when he ran out at wing against the New Zealand Cavaliers back in 1986.

Meyer said he was delighted for the Sharks scrumhalf, who hails from the Free State.

“I’m also very happy for Cobus, who will follow in the footsteps of his late father having never even played first team at school or any national representative rugby, which is a great compliment for the structures at the Sharks.”

Saturday’s Test at Newlands kicks off at 17:05.
