SWD Eagles and the Valke in Currie Cup 1st Division semis─── 08:40 Mon, 29 Sep 2014
The South Western Districts Eagles and the Valke have secured the last two spots in the Currie Cup First Division over the weekend.
In Welkom, the Eagles registered a morale-boosting 42-27 win over the Down Touch Griffons in what could be viewed as a dress rehearsal for the semi-final.
An impressive 17 points by Eagles fullback Elric van Vuuren combined with a fine attacking performance by his team allowed the George side to secure the third spot on the log and setup a date against the Griffons on Saturday.
In Potchefstroom the Leopards went through their paces when they beat the Valke 52-29. Four tries by the side from Kempton Park was enough for them to scrap into the fourth spot on the log and setup a play-off against the Leopards.
A 27-6 win for the Boland Cavaliers over the Border Bulldogs in Wellington saw them miss out on the play-offs with just one point.
