South Africa Sevens beat New Zealand 26-17 in the final of the Nelson Mandela Bay Sevens and with also winning the Dubai tournament a week earlier, they move to a comfortable position at the top of the HSBC Sevens World Series log.
They will travel to the next tournament in Wellington early next year to take on the All Black team in front of a boisterous crowd of 36 000.
Over the weekend they had an aggregate crowd attendance of 63 000 in Port Elizabeth.
This is a strong argument surely for the South African leg of the World Series to continue to be played at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium rather than undergo a possible mooted move to Cape Town next year.
