The University of Pretoria Tuks have climbed back to the top of the Varsity Cup standings despite the University of the Free State Shimlas remaining unbeaten.
Last night the two-time champions, Tuks mauled the winless CUT Ixias 63-8 for their 5th consecutive heavy loss.
The University of Stellenbosch Maties earned their first win of the campaign when they edged UJ 16-15 at the Coetzenburg.
The Champions, the UCT Ikeys shot to third in the standings when beat last year’s losing finalists, North West University Pukke 40-21 for their second consecutive win over team from Potchefstroom at the Fanie du Toit Stadium.
In Port Elizabeth it went to down to the wire after the Madibaz came from 21-0 down to draw level with the Shimlas, however a last minute penalty saw the side from Bloemfontein win 23-21 and keep their unbeaten record intact.
