The Lions wrap-up successful tour | News Article

The Lions have made it three from four on their Australasian tour in the Super Rugby with a hard fought 18-17 win over the Reds in Brisbane.

The team from Gauteng completed their most successful tour to date in the competition by holding off the Reds to edge the Queenslanders.

The Lions beat their Blues 13-10 in Auckland, got thumped 34-65 by the Crusaders and beat the Melbourne Rebels 20-16 ahead of today’s game.

After the bruising affair in the east of Australia, Lions captain Warren Whiteley said he was delighted with the effort his boys put in on tour.

In Wellington, replacement Nehe Milner-Skudder scored two late tries as the Hurricanes extended their unbeaten start in to six matches with a 36-12, bonus-point win over the Melbourne Rebels.

Milner-Skudder scored in the 77th minute to give the Hurricanes a four-try bonus point, and again in the 79th to make the win convincing as the Wellington-based team answered the early threat of Mike Harris' accurate boot.

The action kicks off tomorrow morning at 5:30 with the Chiefs hosting the Toyota Cheetahs in Hamilton.
