Cook returns home with injury | News Article

Toyota Cheetahs have been rocked with another major injury following their 37-27 loss to the Chiefs in Hamilton.

Hard working loose forward, Jean Cook is also heading home after sustaining a groin injury as well.

Last week Springbok flank Oupa Mohoje return home with a groin injury to undergo surgery.

The versatile Mohoje has been ruled out of action for between 8 and 12 weeks in order to recover.

Upon his return, Cook will see a specialist to ascertain the extent of the damage.

Good news for the team however is that Sarel Pretorius has linked up with the squad in Sydney, after staying home for the New Zealand leg of their Australasian tour for the birth of his second child.

Pretorius’ inclusion will add necessary spark to the Cheetahs backline, which has been lacking during their losses to the Crusaders and Chiefs.

On a more positive note, Heinrich Brüssow has proven himself as an invaluable player since his return from injury, and his two tries against Dave Rennie’s side saw him make his famous number 6 jersey all his own again.

Outstanding Shimlas flanker, Tienie Burger will in all likeliness replace Cook in the starting line-up for the clash against the Brumbies, while Carel Greeff of the Griquas departs for Australia this afternoon and link up with the team in Sydney.

Saturday’s match at the GIO Stadium in Canberra kicks off at 10:40.
