Blitzbokke jet Ruhan Nel to Tokyo | News Article

Ruhan Nel has departed for Japan where he will linked up with the Springbok Sevens team for this weekends’ Tokyo Sevens.

Nel jets off to the land of the rising sun as an injury replacement for Stephan Dippenaar.

Nel becomes the second place to be flown in as cover after the uncapped Carel du Preez joined the Blitzbokke after the Hong Kong Sevens to replace for Toyota Cheetahs wing, Philip Snyman.

South Africa managed to stay in the lead of the HSBC Sevens World Series after collecting 17 points for their third-place effort in Hong Kong.
They are now just two points in front of Hong Kong winners, Fiji, and three ahead of New Zealand.

Powell said after conceding just one try in the pool games, and then three in the semi-final against the Hong Kong champions, Fiji has left some cause for concern on the defence in the latter stages of tournaments.

The Blitzbokke face Canada on Saturday in their Tokyo opener, followed by Kenya and the USA.
