Deysel slapped with seven week ban | News Article

The Sharks have been rocked with another major suspension in the Super Rugby with the news that Jean Deysel has been slapped with a seven week ban from the sport.

Deysel was red carded shortly before half-time during the sides 52-10 drubbing at the hands of the Crusaders in Durban after taking to Matt Todd’s head with the knee.

Last year during the Sharks trip to New Zealand in the Super Rugby, Deysel was also carded against the Crusaders during their 30-25 loss for stamping on a player.

Earlier this season, Bismarck du Plessis and Francois Steyn were handed four and five week bans respectively for foul play and a spear tackle against the Chiefs in Durban.

Meanwhile, Springbok flyhalf, Patrick Lambie has been ruled out of action for six weeks with a neck injury sustained against the seven-time champions.

The Sharks have a tough assignment this weekend when they travel to Johannesburg to face the in-form Lions on Saturday afternoon at Ellis Park.
