The Pumas feel that they have an advantage over the Leopards this weekend when the two sides clash in Potchefstroom in the Vodacom Cup.
The Leopards will enter the match at home coming of a three week break in the competition due to the Easter break and two byes.
The last time the Leopards took to the field was during their 36-31 win over the Valke on 21 March in Lichtenburg.
The will however see scrumhalf Malherbe Swart starting, while Wilmar Arnoldi, Cayle Denner and Molotsi Bouwer will all warn the bench.
The four all played for Pukke in Monday nights’ Varsity Cup Final against the Shimlas, with Swart scoring a try.
Pumas coach, MJ Mentz feels his former side can be a bit rusty but in the same breath feels the Varisty Cup players can make a difference.
The Pumas made just one change for the match due to an injury to the captain, Eduan van der Walt.
Mentz confirmed that Stefan Watermeyer will lead the side onto the park.
“Eduan has torn his right calve muscle and will not be able to play for a couple of games. The experienced inside centre, Stefan Watermeyer will take over the captaincy for this Vodacom Cup match,” said Mentz.
Friday afternoons’ match at Profert Olën Park kicks off at 16:30, while Griffons tackle the Blue Bulls an hour earlier Loftus Versfeld B in Pretoria.
