Britz and Pietersen gone for Currie Cup?─── 08:39 Wed, 06 May 2015
The Toyota Free State Cheetahs may dealt a big blow ahead of their upcoming Currie Cup campaign with new that the side may be without two of their star players for the competition.
According to the local daily, Volksblad, Cheetahs Super Rugby stalwarts, Willie Britz and Joe Pietersen may be lost to Franco Smith’s side for the world toughest domestic rugby competition with reports indicating the duo won’t be available.
Britz maybe become the latest South African and third Cheetahs player to head to Japan, where Johann Sadie and Heinrich Brussow already ply their trade.
Like Sadie and Brussow it will only be for the Currie Cup and they will be back for the 2016 Super Rugby.
Pietersen in his turn may be heading to the Sharks, but like with Britz, nothing has been officially announced yet.
The Cheetahs Super Rugby side have a bye this week and next face the Highlanders in Bloemfontein on the 16th, while the Free State Cheetahs tackle the Blue Bulls on 8 August at the Free State Stadium in their Currie Cup opener.
