Walraven cleared for Varsity Hockey final─── 08:44 Wed, 13 May 2015
The University of the Free State Kovsies women’s midfielder, Nicole Walraven has been clear to play in Monday night’s Varsity Hockey final.
Walraven had to appear before a disciplinary committee after Monday night’s semi-final against the University of Stellenbosch Maties, after picking up two yellow cards during the match.
The young Proteas player was cleared for her offences and can play against the University of Johannesburg come Monday night.
The Kovsies secured a home final in the tournament by virtue of winning all their matches in the round robins and beating the defending champions Maties 3-1 in the semi-finals.
UJ in their turn dispatched the highly favoured University of the Pretoria Tuks 2-0 in their semi-final.
The last time these two side met, Kovsies thumped UJ 5-1.
Monday night’s final at the Varsity Astro’s gets underway at 18:45.
