Springbok legend and two-time Would Cup winner, Os du Randt has said farewell to Free State and Cheetahs rugby.

The powerful former prop bid farewell to the rugby in the region on Saturday with the head of the Toyota Cheetahs Super Rugby match against the Lions at the Free State Stadium.

After serving the union and franchise as a player, Du Randt served as the side’s forwards coach, a role he also had with the Springboks as well at one stage.

The big man will now coach Toyota Verblitz in the Japanese Top League, in an unique partnership between the two sides.

Du Randt admitted that in the past he has never the been the best tourist, but said he has braced himself for longer stints away from home.

The Cheetahs and Verblitz will be looking to use the opportunity to see players from Japan honing their skills in Bloemfontein and vice versa.

This weekend will also see coach Naka Drotské be in charge of the team for the last time when they tackle the Stormers in Cape Town.
