Mixed reaction over Springbok squad─── 10:31 Mon, 29 Jun 2015
There has been mixed reaction over the Springbok squad which has been announced for the match against the World XV, Rugby Championship and additional Test against Argentina.
Coach Heyneke Meyer revealed his cards on Saturday with a 36 member squad, as well as 13 additional injured players.
The most notable exclusio is that of Bulls captain, Pierre Spies, while his teammate and 121-test veteran Victor Matfield has been included.
A total of eight uncapped players have been named and they are Scarra Ntubeni, Steven Kitshoff, Vincent Koch, Rudy Paige, Faf de Klerk, Jesse Kriel, Franco Mostert and Lionel Mapoe.
The currently injured players included in the squad are Springbok captain Jean de Villiers, Mapoe, Heinrich Brüssow, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Morné Steyn, Coenie Oosthuizen, Lood de Jager, Duane Vermeulen, Cobus Reinach, Pat Lambie, Jaque Fourie, Jan Serfontein and Fourie du Preez.
The six Toyota Cheetahs Cheetahs in the squad are Cornal Hendricks, Willie le Roux, Oupa Mohoje, Brussow, De Jager and Oosthuizen, while Francois Venter can count himself unlucky.
The Springboks kick-off their international season next week Saturday against the World XV in Cape Town.
