The year’s third and richest Grand Slam gets underway at the All England Tennis Club in London.
It’s time for strawberries and cream with Wimbledon getting underway.
Centre court will be a buzz with excitement this afternoon with both the defending champion and world number one Novak Djokovic as well as French Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka in action.
Djokovic gets to play the opening match on the court when he claimed his second Wimbledon title last year when he faces Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber.
2004 Women’s singles champion, Maria Sharapova faces Johanna Konta in the second match, while Wawrinka will take on Joao Sousa of Portugal.
Djokovic said he is happy with his preparations and form despite not playing in a pre-tournament.
Women’s singles world number one, Serena Williams will be in action on Court One when he comes up against Margarita Gasparyan of Russian.
South Africa’s Kevin Anderson takes on France’s Lucas Pouille on Court 12.
