Bloemfontein Celtic defender, Bevan Fransman, says he is looking forward to the Charity Showdown which takes place on Saturday in Johannesburg, where he will be looking to make his debut for the side.

Celtic, Wits, Black Aces and AmaZulu will all be in action at the Wits Stadium tomorrow.

The opener against Wits could be the first official match for Fransman in the green and white jersey, after joining Celtic on a two-year deal in June from SuperSport United.

The 30-year-old believes the tournament will help the team continue with their preseason preparations.

“It’s going to be a tough tournament, but a good practice for us. However, I don’t think coaches are going to show all their cards come Saturday,” he tells OFM Sport.

Celtic get the tournament underway when they face Wits at 9:00.

The Bafana Bafana defender labelled the Clever Boys as the tough opponents, however, added that the team from Bloemfontein would be looking to start on high note and get jelled well before the opening match of the season.

“We’ll use this tournament to do so. I think out toughest opponents are Wits. They’ve got some new signings, but we have to do well to prepare ourselves for the new season.”

“We’re going to play them again in two weeks’ time so this game will serve as a good practice for the team,” he added.

AmaZulu and Black Aces will lock-horns at 12:00 in the second march, with the two winners facing each other in a final at 16:00.

The money raised from the event will be donated to The Lunchbox Fund, a nationwide charity that feeds needy schoolchildren.
