Bloemfontein -  English Premier League champions, Manchester City have claimed bragging rights early in the season, by beating Liverpool in the second round.
 
The Citizens recorded a 3-1 over the side which finished second in the standings last season.
 
Stevan Jovetic scored a brace for the Manchester side at the Etihad Stadium, while Sergio Agüero added the third goal in the 69th minute.
 
Reds drew a single goal back in the 83rd minute, thanks to an own goal by Pablo Zabaleta.
 
City coach, Manuel Pellegrini said he was delighted with his team performance against the Reds.
The results sees the Citizens move to 3rd in the table, behind Spurs and Chelsea.
