“Luck hasn’t been on our side”

Bloemfontein - Maluti FET College coach, Morena Ramoreboli, says his side is playing good football and creating plenty of scoring chances, but poor finishing has been letting them down.

It is still early days in the season and most teams are still finding their feet. However, Maluti, who is amongst eight teams in the league still to register a victory, is yet to pick up a point this season.

The team from QwaQwa got its 2014/15 National First Division campaign off to a poor start, losing 1-0 to Vasco Da Gama, 3-2 to Santos and 3-1 to FC Cape Town, in matches they fired blanks.

This is a concern for the man in charge, who says poor finishing stands in the way of victory, but adds they will bounce back in no time, regardless.

“It’s been a disappointing start. We’re doing well in terms of team-play and tactical approach, but it’s unfortunate that the more you create and miss those chances, the more it affects the confidence of the players,” he told OFM Sport.

“It’s been happening in past matches. We’ve been creating chances, but opponents would just capitalise on those small mistakes we make and convert their chances.”

“However, we’re still positive; it’s still early days. The important thing about a defeat is that it gives you a chance to look back and analyse where you’ve gone wrong. You can’t change the result, but can change the performance going forward.”

“It takes time, but I‘ve hope that soon we’ll bounce back. We have quality players, but it’s just that luck hasn’t been on our side.”

Ramoredoli hailed the competition in the league, saying that no team is easy to beat and this makes getting maximum points even harder.

“If you don’t get maximum points at home, that’s stressful, because you’re expected to win matches at home and maybe get a point away.”

“Since last season we‘ve been struggling to get points at home, but hope we’ll get it right this season.”

Maluti will travel to Durban on Friday, 12 September 2014 to face Royal Eagles, another side that has not found its feet thus far. The match will take place at King Zwelithini Stadium at 19:30.
