Bafana Bafana likely to upset Congo – Ntseki | News Article
Bloemfontein - Molefi Ntseki, coach of the under 17 national soccer team, has hinted that the recent successes of the nation’s football teams will work as another motivation for Bafana Bafana against Democratic Republic of Congo.

The South African Senior National men’s soccer team travelled to Pointe-Noire to face the Congolese in the match of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games.

Congo are at the summit of Group A with six points after two matches. They beat Nigeria 3-2 and Sudan 2-0 thus far, and will hope to continue with their good form. However, Ntseki believes anything is possible. The former under 20 and 23 assistant coach added that the evolution of football in the country will motivate the team to do well.

The former Bloemfontein Celtic Colts coach recently guided the under 17s (Amajimbos) to the 2015 CAF African Youth Championship to be held in Niger next year following an impressive 4-3 aggregate victory over Egypt.

Meanwhile, apart from Amajimbos, the women’s team and the under 20 men’s team have also made the nation proud after qualifying to participate in the African Women Championship and African Junior Championship respectively.

“The reality of our situation is that people always look down on South African football. Nobody gave us (Amajimbos) a chance to go to Egypt and do well, but we did,” he told OFM Sport.

“Now that Congo are on song and winning their matches, people are saying it’s going to be a difficult match for Bafana and they might not come back with a point.”

“However, with the evolution of football in our country, the successes we’ve endured as national teams, anything is possible for Bafana to go to Congo and come back with maximum points or even a point.”

“The mood is good in the country; even the players understand the importance of this match. So, I do believe we will come back home with something,” Ntseki said.

The match will be played on an artificial surface at the Stade Municipal in Pointe-Noire, with kick-off at 16:30. They return to South Africa on Sunday, ahead of next week's return fixture against the Red Devils in Polokwane.
