Mashaba asks for life to go on | News Article

Bafana Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba yesterday named his squad for face Sudan and Nigeria in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Mashaba named Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo, as well as Platinum Stars keeper, Siyabonga Mpotsane in the side as replacements for the late captain, Senzo Meyiwa.

While the core of the side remained the same, the most notable recalls were Lehlohonolo Majoro and May Mahlangu.

Mashaba also revealed that psychologists were enlisted to help side deal with the loss of their influential captain.

The coach also said Life must go on.

"We have been discussing this issue. We are trying to get a psychologist and maybe a preacher to come and preach the word to us and players.

"It’s going to be a question of mixed feelings in the dressing room, because there are those players who were so close Senzo and those who regarded him as a friend.

"So we got to try and bring them together but what we are going to emphasize is that life must go on. We have to stand up and fight for the late Senzo Meyiwa and represent the country in a manner we are supposed to do," said Mashaba.

A replacement captain for the national side is yet to be announced.

South Africa face Sudan next week Saturday at the Moses Mabidha Stadium in Durban, and a win will secure their spot in next year’s AFCON in Morocco.
