The South African football legend who was part of the victorious Bafana team which won the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations has been in hospital for three weeks but the nature of his illness is yet to be confirmed.
In May 2014, Moshoeu hung up his boots after spending several seasons with third-tier side Alexandre United.
Moshoeu who played for the Amakhosi also played in the Turkish league for Fenerbahce and Bursaspor from 1997 until his return to South Africa in 2003.
"Shoes" was capped 73 times for South Africa and scored eight times.
