Former Bafana captain Tovey suffers three heart attacks | News Article

Former Bafana Bafana captain, Neil Tovey is in the intensive care unit of a Durban hospital after suffering a three heart attacks yesterday morning.

Tovey is the second Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs stalwart battling for his life after it was reported that his long-time teammate John “Shoes” Moshoeu is fighting for his life in a Johannesburg hospital.

The exact details of Tovey’s condition are not known but he faces a long road to recovery after having to be repeatedly resuscitated throughout the morning.

The 52-year-old Tovey lead South Africa to the 1996 Africa Cup of Nations title, in a team widely regarded as our best national team to date.

Moshoeu played in the midfield of that victorious team.

We wish both their South African football legends a speedy recovery.
