Bafana locked and loaded for Swazi challenge | News Article

Bafana Bafana are locked and loaded for their first match since their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations exit earlier this year.

The national side takes on Swaziland in Mbabane this evening, but the team has been rocked with four key withdrawals.

Defender Eric Mathoho,  Anele Ngcongca and May Mahlanghu had been withdrawn through injury, while captain Dean Furman’s English club Doncaster Rovers asked that the player be excused from international duty.

This could see goalkeeper Itumuleng Khune being named as skipper, while 21-year-old Bloemfontein Celtic defender Thapelo Morena could make his possible debut.

Coach Shakes Mashaba lauded the clubs for releasing the majority of players he named in his 30-man squad.

This evening’s match in Mbabane kicks off at 19:00, while on Sunday afternoon at 15:30 Bafana square up against the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
