Lentjies free kick brings Celtic back down to earth | News Article

Martizburg United has brought Bloemfontein Celtic back down to earth with a 1-0 win in Botshabelo in the Premier Soccer League.

This comes after Celtic thumped current PSL champions Mamelodi Sundowns 5-0 last week to go into the clash oozing with confidence.

Kurt Lentjies scored off a free kick in the 8th minute of the match for the only goal of the game, and this put the pressure on the fifth placed Celtic who are chasing a top four finish.

Steve Khompela’s Martizburg survived a second half onslaught by Celtic to  walk away with the full three points from the game.

Phunya Sele Sele Cinton coach said that their opponents deserve credit for their solid defensive game.

"We didn't play well at all in the first half. They had one moment in the match, except for the break in the end, which was that free-kick and got three points.

"We had so few chances, we didn't create any clear-cut chances. Credit to the opposition, they defended well.

"We raised it up just a notch after the break. We dominated throughout but it wasn't to be today."

Celtic next faces Chippa United on the 29 April at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
