"Shoes" Moshoeu loses his battle with cancer | News Article

Former Bafana Bafana and Kazier Chiefs midfielder, John “Shoes” Moshoeu has passed away after losing a long fight to cancer.

The South African football stalwart had been in-and-out of hospital over the past few months and at one stage it was said that he was on life support.

The 49-year-old Moshoeu’s agent Glyn Binkin confirmed the Amakhosi legends’ passing this afternoon via the social media platform Twitter.

Shoes represented Bafana Bafana on 73 occasions.

Meanwhile, Premier Soccer League leaders, Kaizer Chiefs will not receive the PSL Trophy tomorrow night if they clinch the title with three games to spare.

The Amakhosi need just a win against Polokwane City in Soweto tomorrow night to dethrone Mamelodi Sundowns as champions.

The PSL this morning announced that due to logistical reasons, the trophy will only be presented during the last day of the league, which is on 9 May.

They further announced that the last two rounds of the league will see all the league games being played at the same time.

Tomorrow night’s clash between the Glamour Boys and Polokwane at the FNB Stadium kicks off at 19:30.
