The COSAFA Cup upsets continue | News Article

The upsets have continued at the COSAFA Cup being played in Rustenburg with Ghana being knocked out by Madagascar in their quarter-finals.

Following the exits of host South Africa and the defending champions Zambia with losses against Botswana and Namibia via penalty shootouts, the islanders beat the Black Stars 2-1.

Rhino Randriamanjaka opened the scoring in the 28th minute for Madagascar, but they held onto the lead for 11 minutes after Daniel Dark-wah equalised for the West Africans.

Olivier Simouri broke Ghanian hearts in the 90th minute to drive home the winner.

In the second semi-final last night Mozambique secured their spot in the last four with a 5-4 win on penalties over Malawi after their match ended 2-2.

Namibia will face Madagascar in the first semi-final at the Moruleng Stadium on Thursday, and this will be followed by Botswana versus Mozambique.

Tomorrow evening South Africa lock horns with Malawi, while Zambia and Ghana will battle it out.
