Benetiz set for Real job | News Article

Rafa Benetiz has arrived in Spain where it is expected he will be signing a contact to take over as the manager of European football giants, Real Madrid.

This comes after the club sacked former manager Carlo Ancelotti after the team failed to make the final of the UEFA Champions League.

Over the weekend, Reals’ vice president Edurado Fernandez let it slip that the 55-year-old former defender will be taking over the helms of the side.

Benetiz was seen leaving Madrid’s airport after arriving on a flight from Napoli in Italy.

Benitez guided Valencia to the Spanish La Leagua in 2002 and 2004 and won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2005.

The 2014/15 Champions League final will be played in Berlin on Saturday with Italian giants Juventus locking horns with Barcalona at the Olympiastadion.

Juve knocked Real out in the semi-finals with a 3-2 aggregate win, while Barca dispatched German giants Bayern Munich with a 6-2 aggregate win.

Saturday evening’s final kicks off at 20:45.
