Bucs withdraw players from Bafana squad | News Article

Orlando Pirates have withdrawn their players from the Bafana Bafana camp ahead of tomorrow’s CHAN tournament qualifier against Mauritius in Soweto.

The Buccaneers have confirmed that Thamsanqa Gabuza, Oupa Manyisa, Thabo Matlaba, Tshepo Gumede, Ntsikelelo Nyauza and Patrick Phungwayo will be unavailable for Shakes Mashaba tomorrow.

Reports indicate that the top five clubs in the Premier Soccer League will all be withdrawing their players from the national side.

In the statement SAFA said they should announce additional players to eleven remaining in the squad this morning.

"The Bafana Bafana technical team and management are working round the clock to call-up more players into the squad to face Mauritius in a 2016 CHAN qualifier on Saturday, 20 June.

"The latest events come after several clubs withdrew their players from the team – with 12 leaving camp just two days before South Africa tackles the Islanders.

"Eleven players are currently in camp, and this includes Thapelo Monare who has been called up from Jomo Cosmos as one of the replacements.

"Gumede and Gabuza have been left in the squad, as they will not take part in the upcoming CAF Confederations Cup fixture of the club.'

"Gumede has not been registered for the competition while Gabuza is on suspension having accumulated two yellow cards.

Tomorrow’s match at the Dobsonville Stadium kicks off at 15:00.

Meanwhile, Bloemfontein Celtic has released Zambian  defender Davies Nkausa from the club.

The player has been plying his trade as a loan player at the University of Pretoria Tuks.

Moroka Swallows coach, Craig Roslee meanwhile as revealed that he will be leaving the club.

Last season Roslee got axed by AmaZulu after picking up just one win with the team before being named a the Dubes Birds mentor.

Under the guidance of Roslee the Birds plummeted down the log and like AmaZulu were relegated from the Premier Soccer League to the National First Division.
