Wana out for six months | News Article

Newly acquired Bloemfontein Celtic striker, Vuyisile Wana is expected to be side-lined for up six months with a knee injury.

The player who joined Celtic as one of their big name signings joined the team from relegated Moroka Swallows .

Wana has barely been involved at the Phunya Sele Sele camp after doing duty with South Africa in the COSAFA Cup, 2017 AFCON and 2016 CHAN qualifiers.
The player was withdrawn from the Bafana squad to face Mauritius on Sunday in their CHAN qualifier on the island.

Ironically Wana sustained the injury at the end of last season while playing for the Birds when they beat Celtic in Dobsonville.

Celtic team physiotherapist, Shaun Jankielsohn told OFM Sport that the player will undergo surgery today.

“Vuyisile has a serious injury; he picked it up on the 9th of May in our last game against Swallows.

“Basically has torn his ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) and his lateral collateral ligaments, so he will be out for basically six months.

Janskielsohn added that apart from Wana’s injury a minor niggle their pre-season is going well.

Celtic get their 2015/16 PSL campaign underway on 8 August against Polokwane City.
