Bucs and SuperSport out of Top 8 | News Article

The 2015/16 soccer season kicked off last night with the first two matches of the MTN Top being played.

Ajax Cape Town and Wits safely booked their passage into the next round with wins over Orlando Pirates and Super Sport United.

In Soweto the Urban Warriors stunned the Buccaneers with a 54th minute goal by Ndiviwe Mdabuka.

In Johannesburg Daine Klaite and Henrico Botes scored in the 99th and 100th minutes of their match against SuperSport United to advance to the semi-finals with a 3-1 win.

This evening the PSL Champions, Kaizer Chiefs host Maritzburg United at the FNB Stadium, while Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to set the record straight against Bloemfontein Celtic.

Last season, Celtic trashed Sundowns 5-0 to end their title defence.

Chiefs Midfield anchor Reneilwe Letsholonyane told OFM Sport that they are hoping the information coach Steve Komphela has on Maritzburg will give them a psychological advantage.

"Maritzburg United is a tough team to play home and away. We need to be ready on Wednesday.

"Our coach knows how Maritzburg United play. We have been working on what we know."

Meanwhile Sundowns midfielder Hlompho Kekana says Celtic will have to pay for last season.

"We want to take care of Celtic. We owe them big time and we want to make sure we go there and win that match.

"We won't forget that game, but I'm happy we managed to overcome the setback and we are now looking forward to the match. We have prepared very well.

Both tonight’s matches in Soweto and Pretoria kick off at 19:30.
