Pelembe and Massa work permits close to finalised | News Article

Bloemfontein Celtic are hoping to have the work permits for strikers, Geoffrey Massa of Uganda and Helder Pelembe of Mozambique finalised tomorrow.

Celtic have had to make do without their two new signings in their first two matches of the season.

Last week Wednesday, the men in green-and-white hoops beat Mamelodi Sundowns on penalties to advance to the semi-finals of the MTN 8.

On Saturday, the team conceded two late goals the Old Peter Mokaba stadium to lose 3-2 to Polokwane City in the Premier Soccer League

Celtic chairman, Max Tshabalala told OFM Sport that he is if happy with the sides opening week, however, feels that they shouldn’t have lost to Polokwane.

Tshabalala said not being able to field Massa nor Pelembe definitely hurt them.

“We now have the players to beef up the team, but like any other team we are battling with the work permits of players that were supposed to play.

“We have Massa and Pelembe but neither can play because we are suffering with the work permit issue.

“But yes, we started well, hopefully today or tomorrow we will have the whole team ready.

The straightforward club owner added that hopefully they will have the pairs’ permits by tomorrow.

“We are praying very hard that we get these work permits because we need to face Chiefs with a very strong team and according to us the players that we have acquired will be able to help us reach that point.

“We are ready to go to the final because to us the MTN 8 isn’t just a competition, we are duty bound because this is our sponsor.

Phunya Sele Sele and Chiefs face each other on Sunday in the first leg semi-final of the MTN 8 at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, with kick-off at 16:00.
