Furman signs with Matsatsantsa | News Article

Bafana Bafana captain and midfielder, Dean Furman is delighted to be playing his football in South Africa for the first time in his career.

The Cape Town-born player made his breakthrough in football in the youth team at Chelsea in London before moving over to Rangers.

Furman has played his senior football for Rangers, Bradford City, Oldham Athletic and Doncaster Rovers before penning a two-contract at SuperSport United.

Joining SuperSport sees Furman an opportunity  re-unite with his former Rovers teammate, Bongani Khumalo.

Khumalo rejoined United a few weeks ago after spending five-years abroad.

The man affectionately known as "Mlungu" in the Bafana camp also gets an opportunity to work with former nationial coach, Gordon Igesund, again.

Furman says he is excited about the opportunity to re-unite with the pair.

“First and foremost on the playing side, to work again with my former Bafana Bafana coach (Gordon Igesund) who gave me the opportunity to play in the national team was a big thing for me.

“Of course they’ve recently signed Bongani Khumalo who I played with at Doncaster Rovers and me and Bongs grew close and I have an immense amount of respect for him.

“I’ve spoken with him and he told me how much he is enjoy it here, so that was also a big thing for me.

“So all-in-all it just feels like the right place for me to be at the moment in my career.

Furman could make his Premier Soccer League debut as soon as Saturday when Matsatsantsa face Black Aces away at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit.
